School Rules and the 3 R’s of The Regent Secondary School
The best form of discipline is self-discipline. The underlying principle of our school rules is to ensure that all students are safe and happy within the school environment. We do not have a long list of ‘You must not…’.
Our school code is summarised in the 3 R’s, which reflect our values. Students are regularly reminded of it by their teachers in class and in assemblies. The 3 R’s code is as follows:
Respect, Responsibility and Resourcefulness!
The 3 ‘R’s of The Regent Secondary School.
Respect:
In our school community, everyone is treated with respect and valued for themselves.
This means that:
- We treat each other as we would like to be treated.
- We behave in a polite and considerate way.
- We treat people well even if they look, act or think differently.
- We play games that others can share.
- We solve disagreements in a peaceful way.
- We speak kindly to each other – we do not shout.
- We respect each other’s privacy and property
- We use appropriate language
Responsibility:
- We look after our school, our classroom and each other
- We take care of equipment and use it safely.
- We put our litter in the bins provided.
- We always try to do our best.
- We try to be in the right place at the right time.
- We remember to bring the things we need for each day.
- We think about how our words and actions affect others.
Resourcefulness:
- We take responsibility for our own learning
- We use our initiative
- We try to solve problems for ourselves
- We are helpful and supportive to other members of the school community
