The Head of Boarding and Pastoral care, Mr Akinola and Assistant Vice Principal, Mrs Nosa-Agada, have been appointed as the Senior Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).

Both Mr Akinola and Mrs Nosa-Agada have many years of experience, both here in Nigeria and the UK. They are also supported in this role by one other member of staff who acts as a Deputy DSL, Mrs Ojeah, who is our Assistant Vice Principal of Boarding.

It is the role of the Safeguarding Team to ensure best practice in all aspects of Child Protection and Pupil Welfare across the school. This involves, providing a comprehensive staff INSET programme for all teachers, as well as more specialist support for Housemasters and Housemistresses.

All new staff receive a thorough induction programme which places a clear emphasis on safeguarding issues. The School’s Tutor Programme, as well as the delivery of Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE), within the curriculum, are designed to ensure current safeguarding issues are regularly discussed by pupils.

On the rare occasions that a significant Safeguarding or Child Protection concern is raised within the School, it is the role of the Safeguarding Team to undertake appropriate investigations. This will be in line with our published Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, (found in our policies tab under School Information), and will involve liaison with external agencies as and when required.
